THE EXPECTED LIFE OF A HELIUM FILLED BALLOON

11” / 28cm Round Latex Balloon

A standard 11” /28cm helium filled latex balloon will float from 18 – 24 hours.
These same balloons can be treated with a ‘liquid latex’ called Ultra High Float that enables
the balloons to last 5 times longer.

SAFETY NOTE : Never – Never release Helium balloons whose ribbons have been
tied together as they can wrap around electricity lines causing all sorts of trouble.

Foil Balloons

In the late 1970's, silver metallised balloons (Foil Balloons) were developed for the New York City Ballet.  
These balloons are commonly called Mylar or Foils, but they are actually made from a metallised
nylon and can conduct electricity if released outdoors. 

SAFETY NOTE : Never – Never release Helium Filled Foil Balloons into the atmosphere. 
They DO NOT biodegrade and are dangerous around electricity lines.

Helium Filled foil balloons - life expectancy :
45cm foil – 18 – 24 hours
90cm foil – 3 days to 1 month
Megaloon foil : 5 days - 1 month
